Welcome to the Waiting Zone...
Jonathan Blum

I'm afraid the master tape of "Time Rift" is getting rather long in the tooth -- it's suffering from tracking glitches during the slow-motion special-effects sequences, which means that most of the copies we make are poor in quality. So we've temporarily suspended availability of the story.

Fortunately, though, we still have all the rough-cuts and raw footage -- so we can dub the rough-cuts to digital video, re-create the slow-motion bits with modern equipment, and create a new master tape with a minimum of work. I'll start work on this as soon as my people in the US send me the footage, and once a new master is created the story will be available again.

If you're interested in having your name added to a waiting list for a copy, e-mail me and we'll write back with pricing/ordering info as soon as the (first) reconstructed version is ready.

On the other hand, if you're interested in the "Time Rift" soundtrack album, copies of that are now available on CD here.

The Director's Apology Cut!

Once the repaired version is finished, we're going to start on a longer-term project: a DVD release, in which I go back and edit out all the bits people told me should have been cut in the first place. (Sorry to disappoint people, but that doesn't mean it'll be 45 minutes long.) Other features planned include:

The orginal TARDIS The interim TARDIS
Before, and... during. "After" isn't ready yet, but it's already a lot better...

UPDATE: 13 April, 2003

The transfer of the original VHS footage to DV was delayed because of quality issues, but this appears to have been sorted out now, so we should be able to start editing in the summer of 2003. We'll post another update in August at the latest!

In the meantime, feel free to check out the Time Rift pages -- it's a fascinating time capsule of the production period. (Though I can't believe I actually said that about David D's performance!)
